SPE 6.7 Powerstroke Disaster Prevention Kit + Exofilter The “Disaster Prevention Kit,” it does exactly what it implies; it prevents the disasters of a CP4 pump failure from destroying the rest of a very expensive high-pressure fuel system. While this is a very simple concept up until now all the other systems on the market were incomplete in our eyes. SPE has rewritten the book and designed a kit that has none of the installation downfalls or shortcomings.
CP4 high pressure pumps are considered problematic for the 6.7L Ford Powerstroke engine due to them being more sensitive than other high pressure pumps. They are more susceptible to contamination due to tighter tolerances and higher operating pressures. When the pump fails It sends debris into the rest of the system and requires a several thousand-dollar replacement of injectors, rails, lines, etc.
Function The CP4 pump is internally lubricated by diesel fuel. Diesel fuel is pumped up via the lift pump to feed the CP4 lubricating the crankcase area of the pump first, Then fuel flows from the crankcase to the MPROP (volume control valve) once the valve meters the fuel it allows it to flow to the pump heads. It is then compressed and pushed out to the high pressure lines, rails, and injectors. The weakness of the CP4 pump lies in the crankcase area where a set of roller lifters/buckets ride on a camshaft. When the failure event occurs the fuel becomes contaminated immediately and is sent out to the rest of the system.
The Cure Our kit bolts to the CP4 pump and changes the routing of the fuel flow so that lubricating fuel is divided, feeding the fuel to the MPROP from the fuel filter and not from the crankcase of the pump. This makes sure that the crankcase fuel that's contaminated during a failure doesn't make it out to the high pressure fuel system.
This is where every other disaster prevention kit falls short and sends the contaminated fuel back to the tank contaminating the return side of the system including lines, fuel cooler, and tank.
The ExoFilter allows the customer to monitor their system when maintenancing their vehicle. When the ExoFilter clogs during a CP4 pump failure it helps the truck give signs of an issue so you can shut off sooner, rather than returning debris to the tank and passing it through the fuel filter at the lift pump & engine. This can takes a lot of time to plug, if it even happens, and add even more labor and cost to an already costly repair bill.
The ExoFilter is designed to allow the customer to open up the filter & check for debris. It includes a 20 micron, washable metal filter that fuel passes through. The Exofilter gives you peace of mind when checked during every fuel filter change so you can catch a problem before catastrophic failure occurs.
The SPE kit also does not require the customer to cut any fuel lines like the other kits on the market. We also do not use hydraulic hose with compression fittings, or cheap rubber fuel hoses with T fittings and crimp clamps like our competitors. Beware of kits with rubber hose there is a reason automotive manufacturers don't use them anymore. Our kits come with an American made Fragola PTFE stainless braided PVC coated AN fuel Hose. The biggest bonus is that there is no cutting, thus making this kit 100% plug and play.
Extra port for easy fuel pressure monitoring or aux feed
Fragola AN stainless braided pvc coated ptfe fuel feed hose to the CP4 MPROP
Black anodized 6061 billet aluminum hard parts
Industry first, patented return side 20 micron fuel filter (reusable)
Allows health monitoring of the CP4 pump
Reversible (kit can be removed)
2011-2019 Ford F250/F350/F450 (including cab & chassis models)
2020+ Ford F250/F350/F450 (including cab & chassis models) COMING SOON!
50 STATE COMPLIANT kit that requires NOtuning or modifications after installation.
**The SPE 6.7 CP4 disaster prevention kit cannot prevent the CP4 pump from failing. What it does do is help prevent the failures contamination from entering the high pressure fuel system causing more damage and also returning to the tank. It even offers the ability to monitor fuel system health.
Products are the best quality
They seam to know a lot about my 6.7 powerstroke
Will buy from them again for sure
Quality parts. Very happy with this product
Installation was done by my company’s head mechanic that is responsible for keeping a fleet of 60-70 Ford 6.7 on the road and working. He installed this on my personal truck and had never seen this kit but has installed a lot of the other popular kit available. He was very impressed how complete this one was and how well it was engineered. Absolutely no problems or leaks and took hours less time to install than the other one he’s been using. I was impressed also as checking the exo filter will be a breeze. Excellent location and very accessible. Installation was done on a 2015 F350.
Haven't installed yet but really looking forward to! I love that I don't have to cut or modify anything to install the kit and just the piece of mind alone that my fuel system is protected is worth every penny!!!
The disaster prevention kit was great. The only problem is the directions were terrible. For the price they really should be step by step. And separate instructions showing you how to put the kit together
Absolutely great product, excellent quality and fitment, would highly recommend to anyone that owns one of these 6.7 trucks. Super easy install, and very easy to maintain. Customer Service has been excellent as well! Keep up the great work and the great product line!
This is the best kit on the market today....I would not purchase another if your serious about protecting your sweet ass ride...
Performance to match your power desire.
Easy-ish install. Glad there are videos to help along the process though, like Results May Vary have on YouTube. Initially I had a massive leak off the block and MPROP. I had older directions that didn’t talk about the extra supplied O-ring to replace on the MPROP. The oem one can swell and it won’t “click” into the SPE block. I thought it was tight, well it was not. I had a pond of diesel in the valley in front of the turbo. I tightened the 90 degree fitting and redid the Loctite 545 I used. Also replaced the o-ring on the MPROP with the supplied one in the kit after I looked up the updated directions on SPE’s website. I bought this in January. Older directions didn’t mention the extra o-ring. The MPROP made the distinctive click noise this time. Can say no leaks now. Happy with product other than that slip up.
I watched their YouTube video just to see what was involved on how to install it and they recommend also installing the CCV reroute kit, I now understand why... not just because of the oil but that fact that it was a real pain to install with the CCV hose in the way! All in all I got it installed with no leaks and the quality of parts was great! Definitely a nice peace of mind knowing that my fuel system is protected from the CP4
Clean, easy install for my Diesel Mechanic. A small investment for peace of mind. Totally worth it.
Great Quality will be adding more SPE parts in the very near future.
I would have given this kit 5 stars but two things I didn't like. 1. Missing parts. Not all the parts were in the box that was sent to me. 2. On a 2105 6.7 the return fuel line is at a 90 degree angle and where it attaches to the manifold should be at a 90 degree angle as well. You have to install the manifold to the return line first and kind of tweak the manifold in place on the return line. IMHO not the cleanest way to have the manifold and return line connect together.
Otherwise works as advertised.
Install wasn't to bad. Only wish the directions were in color like the videos i watched before doing the install
Amy and Chance are get. Chance answer my questions and Amy makes sure I get everything I ordered. products fit like described, instructions are provided and there are great instructions on their website i have bought alot from snyder and waiting on some additional products that are custom. Would like an egr test plate for my valve cover with spe on it. Hint
Great fit once everything was removed. It would be helpful if more detailed instructions of disassembly were included. The upper plastic intake was a nightmare getting out. FYI if you have to remove the auxiliary heater supply tube like I did go ahead and get a new o ring for it and lube it really well and go in straight as possible. Its really easy to roll the o ring. Other than the difficulty removing everything out of the way the kit went together great and looks really clean. Great product! Thanks.
Nice and clean look to it.
Shipping was fast.. I had one issue the 45 degree black line kept leaking. I had to bend it a little for it to stop leaking overall love it
As I was working I had a great Company/ “Unlimited Vehicle Solutions” here in San Mateo, California install the disaster kit and few other items and I couldn’t be happier with the installation. All of you there at Snyder Performance Engineering make a great engineered product. Thank you!
Love that I don't have to cut anything, waiting for some new gaskets to show up so I can install it
Great kit to protect yourself from thousands of dollars in damages if pump done go out
If you got the exo filter put it on first!!! Easy kit especially for a guy like me who doesn’t do mechanic work. Plug and play.
Well made kit, good fit. Good to have no worries for when my CP4 fails that my injectors are safe and don’t have to clean the complete fuel system out.
Works great no problems Thank you
I did not install this kit myself. I had it professionally installed and the install company said the installation was very easy to do and that the kit is very well thought through. Highly advise you to purchase this kit.
Easy install, plug and play. Little time consuming due to existing parts needing removed to install. As in running I can’t really tell anything but it’s there to save my fuel system not for performance.
Received item fast and in good condition, I opened box and everything seems to be there and in good condition. I have not installed the kit on my truck but based on other reviews I expect it to work flawlessly.
This is our 3rd kit to install on trucks in our fleet. Can not really say how well it works until the pump fails again. Hoping that is not any time soon. Quality of the components in the kit is excellent. As for the fit, it is good but can be improved. The fitting that is screwed into the MPROP Adapter needs to be changed to a 45 degree and the end of line that attaches to it changed to a straight fitting and lengthen the line by about 1 inch. Currently we are having to grind the edge of a bracket to keep it from chaffing the line. We plan to install 8 more of these kits on ambulances in our fleet.
Super quick shipment, owners remained in constant contact throughout the shipping.
Installation was fairly easy. Taking apart the truck was the most time consuming.
100% plug and play. SPE has more than delivered
Pretty easy install very happy with the quality
Fit and finish is very nice very straightforward install with no cutting. Only complaint is it took 6 weeks to receive even tho it was in stock.
Fairly easy to install. Like the fit and finish. Looks great.
Exceptionally well made product. Easy to install and everything fits great.
That kit is premium! Had no issues or leaks. Thanks a lot really like your products.
It took a few months for me to get this on because of a busy work schedule, but finally got it on. Pretty easy to install with some knowledge of mechanics. 2 bolts that hold new plate on top of fuel pump were wrong but no big deal, just ran and got ones to work. Initial thought are great, finger crossed that I don’t ever have to find out if it works, but it gives me some piece of mind.
Clean and easy install
Service was good, product is very good.
When i ordered, their website said in stock, however there could possibly be a 3-4 week shipping delay. I live close in Maryland and my order got to me in less than a week. All the parts appear to be included and in good shape. My diesel mechanic recommends SPE for all my diesel parts. I will also be switching over to their tuning shortly. Thanks guys!
The kit itself is awesome. It’s built well and it seems solid. The instructions were about zero help but I watched some YouTube videos and that helped. The little bolts that held on the retainer ring thing were a nightmare for my big hands to deal with but it really is a nice kit.
Got my order and everything looks good. Says in instructions for the Powerstroke Disaster Prevention Kit *Note- For sealant SPE recommends the included Vibra-tite 44050 on NPT fittings. I didn't receive any, so I had to order. When I get it, I'll install the 3 different kits I ordered.
We maintain a fleet of ambulances, 11 of which are Fords with the 6.7L. We have experienced the disastrous fuel pump failure on 2 of those with repair costs of $5,000 + just for parts. We are in the process of installing your kits on all of our 6.7L engines because they are a bargain compared to the alternative. Installation is simple and clean.
Kit took a while to install but it was well worth it. Kit went together well and was fairly easy to install. Hardest part was removing the upper intake manifold. There is a bracket holding the coolant lines that blocks removal of the intake. It does not look like much but once you take the time to loosen this bracket the intake slides right out. Allow yourself a few hours to compete this project. Not something you want to rush on. Some videos on Youtube show people installing it and putting everything back together right away. Follow the instructions and check for leaks BEFORE you reinstall. I had two small leaks that needed to be tightened a little bit more on each fitting. Would have been terrible to take it all back apart. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!
I’m waiting to install, piping kit is on the way hopefully soon so I don’t want to get into it twice.
Took forever to get because it was back ordered. Quality is second to none which is why I waited. I understand this a small business, if you want it fast you’ll probably be disappointed. If you don’t mind waiting for quality order now! The exofilter was the big selling point for me.
From ordering to arrival in Canada was quick! Will install at a later date as it’s raining here !!
Thank you Amy and family for fast service !!! Will send install pics later on !! Rick
Everything fit nicely and install was easy with the instructions
Not the best instructions. But the video they made is super helpful. Very happy with the piece of mind this kit gives me. Not the easiest install; however nothing extremely difficult, just a little time consuming.
End result, I am happy to know the CP4 will not trash my truck. Without this kit, the fix is upwards of 20k and a month in a rented work truck.
This is an excellent kit for the 6.7L fuel system. It is a little more difficult to install than i was expecting. You have to remove the intake manifolds to access the high pressure fuel pump. It fits perfect, I would expect it to keep pump metal out of the injectors.
I saw a few Utub videos, first from SPE, then a few others. At first I didn't understand the operation until TopCorey went into great detail using his old CP4. That sold it for me so ordered one and waited. When I finally received it, I pulled the parts out and was floored at the machining. The two nipples that connect to the fuel lines at first I thought were plastic, and I thought, really??, but then I dropped one on my desk and heard it is NOT plastic, but very well made aluminum.
The fact no cutting is required, and everything just fits into place, makes this a great kit, but the fact it protects the return line and tank in case the CP4 does expire just puts this WAY over the top. Not only that but I swear my engine is quieter now, it no longer cackles at idle.
Installation guide is pretty clear though putting the torque specs for the upper and lower intakes would make them even better. There is a pattern to follow for the upper and they torque to 89 in/LB/10NM. It took me a little deciphering the first couple pictures because mine has the egr deleted, so those parts no longer existed. The hardest part of the entire install is getting that front torx bolt out from the pump, other than that, installation was a breeze.
Very well machine parts and well packaged. Having been an automobile technician for 13 years, I found the instructions lacking in information. The screw heads are hex and it would been nice if the instructions would tell you the hex wrench size. The instructions also left it to you to figure out exactly where the fuel manifold actually goes and which quick connect fuel lines go connect to it. The filter housing was easy to mount but the return line on the vehicle is a little longer when connecting to this housing making the line want to bow and if your not careful kink. I hand to try and move the return line on the truck back towards the firewall so the line would not bend. The fuel line in the kit going to the fuel filter under the hood on the truck is a very tight fit. Over all I am pleased with the kit. When installing just know you may have to figure out some of the installation yourself, like how to route the fuel hosed from the top of the regulator block to the fuel manifold. I had another prevention kit on my truck that required the stock fuel line to be cut and a hose used with a compression fittings the hose was hard to route. I had a few leaks with that kit, after the initial install, where I had none with this one. This one looks way more professional install too. I haven’t ran the truck just the low lift pump to check for leaks, as I am just finishing putting the intercooler hoses on and a few other add on’s. The main reason I purchased this kit is all the modifications are bolt on no cutting of expensive fuel lines and the like.
It installed relatively easily after taking my intake off, which was not easy. Everything fit like it was supposed to, no leaks. Truck runs fine, like it did before. This would actually not change that, not its purpose. Feel like now I won't destroy my fuel system if the pump fails. Very well made product from the looks of it. My only complaints would be it seems a little expensive for what you get even with the good quality of the product and the two months to actually receive it is a little hard to deal with but, hopefully you can improve that for future customers. Bought two disaster prevention kits at different times and took just as long both times to finally get them. Earlier I purchased a thermostat for my Super Duty and got that in a reasonable amount of time and I am happy with it.
Little bit of a wait but worth it. SPE top of the line for anything powerstroke. Would definitely reccomend 100%
I like the product but the small screen that came with the kit will not fit into the housing. After contacting SPE they agreed to send me another one but on regular ups shipment. After waiting 3-4 weeks on this I am ready to get this truck back on the road! As a business owner myself I understand misfits and miscommunication but I also want my customers to know that I’m doing all that I can and extra overnight package would have gone along ways with me instead of waiting 5 more days to get this truck back together. Sorry to complain but you asked for me to tell you more.
I very much appreciate the customer service and timely response I think the product is a good product I believe the instructions were adequate but could be a little improved on these simply of the parts and where the safety filter for the return line is not line up very well with the return line hose on my 2011 had to bend the hose quite a bit worried in my breaker I've switched tension. Overall good though thank you
Was a great project for my son and grandkids. Supper helpful directions with a lot of pictures. Great support group also!
nice product but I want to hear from someone that has had a CP-4 trash it self and for what reason that this bi- past kit has save the fuel system. And will this product void your warranty?
All components in the kit were high quality and the installation was simple and neat. Looks like I will be ordering 10 more kits for the other 6.7L trucks in our ambulance fleet.
Your kidding right??? I waited for a few months to get this. I finally get it in the mail and the very next day you’re asking me to right a review and submit a photo of the install? Did I miss something in the install process where you snap your fingers and it’s on the truck? I’ve called wanting information about the new manifold piping system and can’t seem to get any information. Don’t know if you’re just too busy to fool with me or what. But my God give a man a chance to do something before you’re asking for a review. I’m not wanting to install this until I find out if I can get or even use the new Y intake piping and cold side pipe.. I don’t want to tear all this down but once if I can get out of doing it twice.
Very nice kit and great quality!!! However haven’t installed yet, still waiting on all my intake piping
Besides the massive backlog in producing and shipping the product, installation of the kit was a breeze, the hardest part was removing the upper intake manifold.
Item was back ordered and took awhile to receive. In the end took longer than expected but that’s the world we are in now. As far as quality it looks good. Had a slight weep on the one flared connection. Just needed snugged up. Would be nice if all the threaded connections where factory installed or if kit came with a supplied thread sealant.
Kit went on pretty easy but have a small fuel drip on the line or hose not sure yet need to contact SPE and see about a couple of replacement parts other than that I’d recommend it to anyone who owns a Ford with the CP4 pump
Best on market.
Item was placed on back order for a few months, but I am very satisfied with the quality of this product. The SPE team kept me updated with product restocking and shipping. Very satisfied with my purchases with SPE and the quality of the products that they produce. Highly recommend!
Great looking and pretty much plug and play with piece of mind
Well I haven’t had a chance to install it that comes tomorrow but right now I’m just ready to get it on thanks I know things was wild but I really believe it worth the wait
Getting the parts was terrible. The company failed to manage expectations for the customer, then failed to meet the dates they put out for delivery.
The installation went well, but the clamp plate to and existing line is a pain, it has a screw that is underneath and in a bad position. This could be engineered better.
Other than that, the parts are high quality and everything fit well.
I am happy I waited for this kit even though my truck was down a lot longer than I wanted.
Everything went together very well. The lower intake seems to hit the solenoid once the kit is installed, other than that, well built.
Kit was nice and snug. I had to loosen up the hold down plate for the steel lines in order to rock the mprop diverter down into place. In addition I put a longer bolt on the hold down for the lines where the new spacer fastens right by the fuel filter.
Shipping took over 3 months. Stated that was due to high demand and that spe was personally installing the 90 degree fittings. Well finally got it an they were not installed like was said to be over all like the product but very displeased with customer support not good with responding to emails sometimes wait days for a reply
If your looking for quality Snyder is your place
Well made, good quality, well thought out would recommend
Product very well made only Complaint i have is on how long it took to get part two months. Dont now if delay shipping was cuz of virus
Easy install . No problem for a back yard mechanic.
I spoke to a couple of buddies one of them is going to order 1 also, the other bought a different kit from another manufacturer he said it was a pain to install. So far so good
Initial thoughts were the product looked clean and of quality. The hardest/longest part of the install was Is taking off the intake parts to get to the fuel pump. After 5,000 miles the product works perfectly with no leaks and after checking the small filter screen after 5000 miles I found no metal shavings. It was worth it to me for the peace of mind but time will tell if it actually does it’s job.
Works as advertised, customer service was great to work with! I honestly wish I could do more aftermarket to my truck but needless to say for the time being there are only a few things I am willing to do due to state inspections. With that said, take your time and don't rush since this involves a sensitive fuel system. The hard parts: the back side of the upper intake plenum, aligning the screw holes and gently getting the MPROP seat into block off/fuel separator. (It always looked dead on, but for whatever reason it was off slightly off to not screw straight in. I didn't want to cross thread. So I had to exercise patience). On to the fuel fittings, I am not the world's biggest fan of tapered threads/fittings. However, to ensure the fittings are are threaded deeper, I found it best to use a vice and then tighten it from there. Finally, the back plates to the Exo filter and Fuel splitting block, just know if you don't delete the Oil separator the hose for it is kind of in the way. Just gently remove the hose, remember that its brittle plastic and may split. That will give you access to turn the hex bolt in. The EXO filter side, there isn't much room to work and thread the bolt while its upright. It takes a little bit of time and finesse. I would love to look at that screen every filter change, but the challenge of threading that screw is enough to discourage me from checking it often. Too bad the backing plate wasn't a threaded base that you can just thread on to the bottom of the Exo-filter by hand. Would be much easier. All in all it is do able and easily done in a day.
Great quality! Super fast shipping! Could use better instructions but if you are mechanically inclined it’s a breeze.
Install took longer than expected, mostly because the fuel line could have been 1/4"-1/2" longer..
Feel like the line is used to hold both ends together, I know it not to be true but felt that way during install.
Does not impact current driving conditions, as I would not know it was there if I did not install it myself.
Our mechanic- didn’t try and up sell us but shared this website and product as a new safety addition to our failed fuel pump , which ran us over 10,000.00 in fuel system repair - Thank U to the fast delivery and solid parts - I already have recommended this product to friends as an extra insurance to a major issue with bad fuel that can happen once at any station- I will be purchasing a second one for my work truck- Thank U for All the phone support - Serge M.
Very well made kit and aesthetically pleasing. Kit is not too difficult to install but is time consuming. The kit comes with detailed instructions but I watched a few YouTube install videos beforehand and felt I started with clue. If you plan to do a CVC reroute, do it in conjunction with the disaster prevention kit.
Not installed yet but the fit and quality looks good.
Very thought out way to make things better, that what I like to see.
Going the extra mile to do it right.
Fitment of SPE’s kit with stock components is spectacular, and install was entirely painless. I wish I had chosen to do more under hood work at this point (piping kit, CCV, etc..) with everything being pulled off but, that’s the way things go. Stellar product overall
Customer service was great and the parts were well packaged and damage free when they were delivered. I can’t wait to install this kit
Kit is pretty straight forward to install without modifications to existing fuel system! I couldn’t get the black spacer to work onthe fuel line clamp so i left it off
Grade product Recommend
Had to make a slight modification to the mprop valve adapter in order to get it to sit flush at the fuel pump but other than that, install went great
Everything bolted up perfectly on my 2015! Excellent kit.
