SPE 6.7 Powerstroke Disaster Prevention Kit + Exofilter The “Disaster Prevention Kit,” it does exactly what it implies; it prevents the disasters of a CP4 pump failure from destroying the rest of a very expensive high-pressure fuel system. While this is a very simple concept up until now all the other systems on the market were incomplete in our eyes. SPE has rewritten the book and designed a kit that has none of the installation downfalls or shortcomings.
CP4 high pressure pumps are considered problematic for the 6.7L Ford Powerstroke engine due to them being more sensitive than other high pressure pumps. They are more susceptible to contamination due to tighter tolerances and higher operating pressures. When the pump fails It sends debris into the rest of the system and requires a several thousand-dollar replacement of injectors, rails, lines, etc.
Function The CP4 pump is internally lubricated by diesel fuel. Diesel fuel is pumped up via the lift pump to feed the CP4 lubricating the crankcase area of the pump first, Then fuel flows from the crankcase to the MPROP (volume control valve) once the valve meters the fuel it allows it to flow to the pump heads. It is then compressed and pushed out to the high pressure lines, rails, and injectors. The weakness of the CP4 pump lies in the crankcase area where a set of roller lifters/buckets ride on a camshaft. When the failure event occurs the fuel becomes contaminated immediately and is sent out to the rest of the system.
The Cure Our kit bolts to the CP4 pump and changes the routing of the fuel flow so that lubricating fuel is divided, feeding the fuel to the MPROP from the fuel filter and not from the crankcase of the pump. This makes sure that the crankcase fuel that's contaminated during a failure doesn't make it out to the high pressure fuel system.
This is where every other disaster prevention kit falls short and sends the contaminated fuel back to the tank contaminating the return side of the system including lines, fuel cooler, and tank.
The ExoFilter allows the customer to monitor their system when maintenancing their vehicle. When the ExoFilter clogs during a CP4 pump failure it helps the truck shut off sooner to warn you of an issue, rather than returning debris to the tank and passing it through the fuel filter at the lift pump & engine. This can takes a lot of time to plug, if it even happens, and add even more labor and cost to an already costly repair bill.
The ExoFilter is designed to allow the customer to open up the filter & check for debris. It includes a 20 micron, washable metal filter that fuel passes through. The Exofilter gives you peace of mind when checked during every fuel filter change so you can catch a problem before catastrophic failure occurs.
The SPE kit also does not require the customer to cut any fuel lines like the other kits on the market. We also do not use hydraulic hose with compression fittings. Our kits come with an American made PTFE stainless braided PVC coated AN fuel Hose. The biggest bonus is that there is no cutting, thus making this kit 100% plug and play.
Extra port for easy fuel pressure monitoring or aux feed
AN stainless braided pvc coated ptfe fuel feed hose to the CP4 MPROP
Black anodized 6061 billet aluminum hard parts
Industry first, patented return side 20 micron fuel filter (reusable)
Allows health monitoring of the CP4 pump
Reversible (kit can be removed)
2011-2019 Ford F250/F350/F450 (including cab & chassis models)
2020+ Ford F250/F350/F450 (including cab & chassis models) COMING SOON!
50 STATE COMPLIANT kit that requires NOtuning or modifications after installation.
**The SPE 6.7 CP4 disaster prevention kit cannot prevent the CP4 pump from failing. What it does do is prevent the failures contamination from entering the high pressure fuel system causing more damage and also returning to the tank. It even offers the ability to monitor fuel system health.
Your kidding right??? I waited for a few months to get this. I finally get it in the mail and the very next day you’re asking me to right a review and submit a photo of the install? Did I miss something in the install process where you snap your fingers and it’s on the truck? I’ve called wanting information about the new manifold piping system and can’t seem to get any information. Don’t know if you’re just too busy to fool with me or what. But my God give a man a chance to do something before you’re asking for a review. I’m not wanting to install this until I find out if I can get or even use the new Y intake piping and cold side pipe.. I don’t want to tear all this down but once if I can get out of doing it twice.
Very nice kit and great quality!!! However haven’t installed yet, still waiting on all my intake piping
Besides the massive backlog in producing and shipping the product, installation of the kit was a breeze, the hardest part was removing the upper intake manifold.
Item was back ordered and took awhile to receive. In the end took longer than expected but that’s the world we are in now. As far as quality it looks good. Had a slight weep on the one flared connection. Just needed snugged up. Would be nice if all the threaded connections where factory installed or if kit came with a supplied thread sealant.
Best on market.
Item was placed on back order for a few months, but I am very satisfied with the quality of this product. The SPE team kept me updated with product restocking and shipping. Very satisfied with my purchases with SPE and the quality of the products that they produce. Highly recommend!
Great looking and pretty much plug and play with piece of mind
Well I haven’t had a chance to install it that comes tomorrow but right now I’m just ready to get it on thanks I know things was wild but I really believe it worth the wait
Getting the parts was terrible. The company failed to manage expectations for the customer, then failed to meet the dates they put out for delivery.
The installation went well, but the clamp plate to and existing line is a pain, it has a screw that is underneath and in a bad position. This could be engineered better.
Other than that, the parts are high quality and everything fit well.
I am happy I waited for this kit even though my truck was down a lot longer than I wanted.
Everything went together very well. The lower intake seems to hit the solenoid once the kit is installed, other than that, well built.
Kit was nice and snug. I had to loosen up the hold down plate for the steel lines in order to rock the mprop diverter down into place. In addition I put a longer bolt on the hold down for the lines where the new spacer fastens right by the fuel filter.
Shipping took over 3 months. Stated that was due to high demand and that spe was personally installing the 90 degree fittings. Well finally got it an they were not installed like was said to be over all like the product but very displeased with customer support not good with responding to emails sometimes wait days for a reply
If your looking for quality Snyder is your place
Well made, good quality, well thought out would recommend
Product very well made only Complaint i have is on how long it took to get part two months. Dont now if delay shipping was cuz of virus
Easy install . No problem for a back yard mechanic.
I spoke to a couple of buddies one of them is going to order 1 also, the other bought a different kit from another manufacturer he said it was a pain to install. So far so good
Initial thoughts were the product looked clean and of quality. The hardest/longest part of the install was Is taking off the intake parts to get to the fuel pump. After 5,000 miles the product works perfectly with no leaks and after checking the small filter screen after 5000 miles I found no metal shavings. It was worth it to me for the peace of mind but time will tell if it actually does it’s job.
Works as advertised, customer service was great to work with! I honestly wish I could do more aftermarket to my truck but needless to say for the time being there are only a few things I am willing to do due to state inspections. With that said, take your time and don't rush since this involves a sensitive fuel system. The hard parts: the back side of the upper intake plenum, aligning the screw holes and gently getting the MPROP seat into block off/fuel separator. (It always looked dead on, but for whatever reason it was off slightly off to not screw straight in. I didn't want to cross thread. So I had to exercise patience). On to the fuel fittings, I am not the world's biggest fan of tapered threads/fittings. However, to ensure the fittings are are threaded deeper, I found it best to use a vice and then tighten it from there. Finally, the back plates to the Exo filter and Fuel splitting block, just know if you don't delete the Oil separator the hose for it is kind of in the way. Just gently remove the hose, remember that its brittle plastic and may split. That will give you access to turn the hex bolt in. The EXO filter side, there isn't much room to work and thread the bolt while its upright. It takes a little bit of time and finesse. I would love to look at that screen every filter change, but the challenge of threading that screw is enough to discourage me from checking it often. Too bad the backing plate wasn't a threaded base that you can just thread on to the bottom of the Exo-filter by hand. Would be much easier. All in all it is do able and easily done in a day.
Great quality! Super fast shipping! Could use better instructions but if you are mechanically inclined it’s a breeze.
Install took longer than expected, mostly because the fuel line could have been 1/4"-1/2" longer..
Feel like the line is used to hold both ends together, I know it not to be true but felt that way during install.
Does not impact current driving conditions, as I would not know it was there if I did not install it myself.
Our mechanic- didn’t try and up sell us but shared this website and product as a new safety addition to our failed fuel pump , which ran us over 10,000.00 in fuel system repair - Thank U to the fast delivery and solid parts - I already have recommended this product to friends as an extra insurance to a major issue with bad fuel that can happen once at any station- I will be purchasing a second one for my work truck- Thank U for All the phone support - Serge M.
Very well made kit and aesthetically pleasing. Kit is not too difficult to install but is time consuming. The kit comes with detailed instructions but I watched a few YouTube install videos beforehand and felt I started with clue. If you plan to do a CVC reroute, do it in conjunction with the disaster prevention kit.
Not installed yet but the fit and quality looks good.
Very thought out way to make things better, that what I like to see.
Going the extra mile to do it right.
Fitment of SPE’s kit with stock components is spectacular, and install was entirely painless. I wish I had chosen to do more under hood work at this point (piping kit, CCV, etc..) with everything being pulled off but, that’s the way things go. Stellar product overall
Customer service was great and the parts were well packaged and damage free when they were delivered. I can’t wait to install this kit
Kit is pretty straight forward to install without modifications to existing fuel system! I couldn’t get the black spacer to work onthe fuel line clamp so i left it off
Grade product Recommend
Had to make a slight modification to the mprop valve adapter in order to get it to sit flush at the fuel pump but other than that, install went great
Everything bolted up perfectly on my 2015! Excellent kit.
