2020 Ford Super Duty 6.7L Engine Specs

2020 Powerstroke 6.7 changes

INTRODUCTION

For the current model year, the 6.7-liter Power Stroke pushes out 450 hp and 935 lb.-ft. of torque. It has grown from the generation 1 6.7’s 400 hp / 800 lb.-ft.

After talking with our contact at Ford here is what we at SPE can tell you. Please be advised, this is only speculation from a reliable source.

POWER NUMBERS

The power numbers for 2020 will be made available closer to the launch although we were given an inside number on the improvement.

AIR & FUEL

The updated 2020 Power Stroke includes a new 36,000-psi fuel injection system with all-new injectors which can precisely meter and spray up to eight times per stroke to control noise levels and optimize combustion, essentially adding more pilot injection cycles. This will leave more on the table for power enhancement in an aftermarket aspect. The engine features a redesigned VGT turbocharger for improved efficiency and throttle response. We won't know the actual sizing until we tear one down. What we did find out via Mike Pruitt, is the new turbo will have an electronically actuated VGT system and a wastegate is also a possibility. It is also worth noting that the new injector nozzles/fuel system modifications and exhaust improvements will squeeze out an estimated 40 more horsepower and 80 more lb. ft. of torque. So, from an estimation standpoint the 2020 6.7 should have an output of490hp and 1015 lb.-ftof torque setting it in a class of its own. It just may eclipse the 500hp number.

ENGINE & INTERNALS

Structural enhancements for the 2020 engine increase the strength of the cylinder head, block, connecting rods and bearings to handle the higher cylinder pressure and increased output.

New steel pistons provide higher firing pressure capability and less friction for added performance, all helping with horsepower and torque. It’s to be a short height piston (less friction), long rod design. Thus, this will aid in helping rod angle and keeping the piston mass as low as possible due to the material change.

The cylinder head casting has been revised for better cooling, including modified passages. The low pressure oil system and front cover has also been changed for more efficiency and overall wear aspects. The lower intake manifold is now a two piece design to better deal with thermal efficiency, and the non-pressure side (turbo inlet to air filter) is now composite. The pressure side of the intake manifold system including the upper intake is now cast aluminum.

CONCLUSION

The 2020 Ford Super Duty Powerstroke will be breaking some new ground and continue to interrupt the OEM landscape. With the new design, we SPE will continue to push forward and develop the best parts on the market. After all, we are enthusiasts just like you.

Anyone gonna do anything bit bitch on here? I’ve owned nothing but fords and have never had a problem 2 of them I pushed over 700hp on ALL stock components. Also if you’ll notice every other company that makes a diesel pulls ideas from Ford. Hints the vgt on every diesel truck just about. Maybe you guys should start taking care of and maintaining your stuff and it wont fail you. Keep doing what your doing Ford 👍

I have a 2004 6L and have spent over $11,000.00 on a motor that only has 130,000 miles on it and that was just on the heads on up. That money was not spent on any performance upgrades, just on keeping it running.

ford keeps cranking out sub standard vehicles and we the consumer keep buying them and they are the #1 selling truck, I was a slow learner after buying 4 ford trucks over the years that all had problems , bad brakes, bad transmission, poor fit and finish, bad fuel economy crappy service, I am through with ford!

I was wondering if anyone out there knows the best way to change the serpentine belt on a 6.7 . I tried to install a new one and I tried it every way imaginable with no success. I ended up taking it to a diesel mechanic and he had it on in no time. Unfortunately I wasn’t ask him how he did it.

After a disastrous 2008 f-450 lariat I then went and bought a 2010 King Ranch It was even worse and now I have a 2016 King Ranch that rattles and squeaks like a Kia I’m not sure I can bring myself to buy a 2020 f-450 Ford would have to really give me some financial incentive

Will ford still utilize the Bosch CP4 high pressure fuel pump in the 2020 6.7 ….? I will not buy another truck with this pump!

The cab/chassis trucks get a much longer commercial warranty, so all the OEM derate them for durability.

Why are the specs on a 67 so much lower on a cab chassis?’
