Brake And Tire Wear Emissions Are Next…

With tailpipe emissions on the decline in Europe, non-exhaust emissions are the next target for regulating bodies. This means brake pad and tire particles. In a report published by Ricardo for the United Kingdom Department of Transportation, the final review of the global consultancy’s findings points toward the next “major source of road traffic particles” being fine emissions (PM2.5) from brake dust, and larger debris from rubber compound breakdown. Potential solutions within the report include a brake dust capture system, which can potentially reduce PM2.5 by 40-percent. Capture device testing for tires returned positive collection of larger particles but not PM 2.5.

We really missed out on this concept from Ford....

The 1997 Ford F-150 Rox Concept is one of those late-’90s ideas that makes you stop and think about the world we grew up in. Built on the F-150 platform, the Rox pushed the cab way back, chopped the bed short, and tried to mash pickup utility with SUV comfort. Oh man, we are so lucky the Super Crew didn't follow this design to a T. It never made production (go figure), but it shows Ford was already thinking about lifestyle trucks years before crossovers became the norm. The execution may be questionable, but the plan was clearly in motion.

JH Diesel & 4x4 Will Be Chasing That $100,000 Payout

The arrival of this turbo at JH Diesel & 4x4 can mean only one thing: they’re on “the list” to compete in the Seventy2 Fast class at UCC next June. But what engine will it be feeding? For sure, a V-8, but will it be a 6.0L Power Stroke or a Duramax? Remember, JH campaigns a standard cab Super Duty burnout truck as well as a regular cab Silverado… Of course, they could be building a completely new truck specifically to compete, as so many others around the country are doing. Once again, the race with a $100,000 payout has ignited a huge fire within the diesel industry.

Megatron’s Year In Review

For the first time in years, Jason Wayman’s “Megatron” Limited Pro Stock puller didn’t win a championship—and he’s not OK with it. In fact, Jason’s second place points finishes in the PPL Champion Seed Western Series and Outlaw Truck & Tractor Pulling circuits has him feverishly planning a return to the top in 2026. “We will not sit easy this winter, and you can bet the kettle is cooking up something big for the 2026 season,” he said. Look for Jason to lean on his biggest supporters (Perkins Diesel, Dynomite Diesel Products, and Valair) for a championship-winning recipe in the New Year.

Mercedes' "Dieselgate" Fines Issued

The future may appear brighter, but the past still happened, and the fines continue... Mercedes-Benz has agreed to a $149.6 million settlement after states alleged some diesel models emitted way more NOx on the road than during lab tests (nothing new there). The resolution includes owner payouts, approved emissions fixes, and longer warranties. Mercedes claims the financial hit is already baked in, but the story itself isn’t new—test cycles vs. real-world driving continue to be a pressure point for OEMs. Another chapter closed, but the diesel emissions era keeps leaving receipts.

Show-Stopping First-Gen Dually

Is this the cleanest first-gen dually in America? Jacob Hiler’s immaculate, Super Cab first-gen resides in Mount Sterling, Kentucky, and its paint job is a product of Jacob’s extensive autobody skillsets, which he puts to good use at Jacob’s Auto Body. The engine bay, which is unbelievably clean as well, includes a well-dressed 5.9L Cummins that’s still VE-fueled but that benefits from an S300 turbo supplying boost. Inside the cab, things are perhaps even more impressive, with the factory red interior in impeccable condition. Last but not least, the DRW Dodge is manually shifted thanks to the original Getrag 360 five-speed still being in place.
