Sterling Diesel Performance’s ’07 Silverado is definitely a different animal these days. Once a 5.90 Index truck, this fire-breathing Bow Tie has been 4.70s on a prepped surface in recent times, and currently holds the 1/8-mile 4x4 record for a Duramax. Most recently, the truck’s driver (and owner of Sterling Diesel Performance), Dustin Sterling, was spotted on the dyno, testing for the upcoming AWD Vs. 2WD Shootout at Cleetus MacFarland’s place in Bradenton. Sterling has promised a host of big changes, and we think he means it. In a short, short dyno pull—which sounded more like a Pro Mod gasser than a diesel—the world’s fastest 4x4 Duramax cleaned up all of its fuel—and did so in a big hurry.

Truck Source Diesel’s latest track terror hit the rollers last week for some baseline data. Coined Project Blackbird, it’s an all-aluminum body, 4x4 ’20 F-250 that’s been fitted with GM independent front suspension for optimized 60-foots. The front-end consists of an LML differential, ’06-’07 CV shafts, half-ton steering knuckles, and TSD-fabbed upper control arms. Blackbird’s rack and pinion steering system came from a 2WD Ram 2500. At the front of the tube chassis sits a Freedom Racing Engines billet-aluminum block Cummins. Based on the truck’s 3,000+ hp potential, IFS, and light weight, it’s reasonable to assume the folks at TSD are interested in challenging Derek Rose’s overall 4x4 1/8-mile diesel record. Stay tuned…

Edge Products is officially the first to market for electronic power adders for’25 and newer Cummins-powered Ram trucks. Its recently released EZ module adds up to 110 hp and as much as 280 lb-ft of torque to your 2500 or 3500’s bottom line. That’s an increase that should allow plenty of truck owners to find out what the new ZF 8-speed automatic is capable of handling. Completely plug-and-play, the EZ doesn’t reflash the ECU and requires zero tools to install it. 110 hp in 10 minutes. In many cases, Edge’s EZ is taking bone-stock ’25-’26 Rams from 430-rwhp to 540-rwhp. Great gains for less than $500!

Boy is the tide changing on the diesel emissions front. In the past year we’ve seen more effort to deregulate the crippling exhaust aftertreatment systems on ’07-newer diesel trucks than we ever have. In an article last week, Green Handle Media laid out the biggest emissions-related headlines in chronological order. From new Environmental Protection Agency administrator, Lee Zeldin, announcing the end of DEF-related limp mode in diesel vehicles last August, to the criminal pardons being awarded, to the news that broke last week stating that the Department of Justice would no longer pursue criminal charges for those in violation of the Clean Air Act, it’s been a very busy six months.
