The Duramax Cracks 3,000 HP

The wait is over. A Duramax has joined the 3KHP club—and the accolade belongs to the folks at Hawk Performance Diesel. Coming by way of horsepower junkie, Morey Logue (of Dirty Hooker Diesel) behind the wheel, the standard cab Silverado managed a 3,140-rwhp hit on the Blessed Performance mobile chassis dyno at Blessed Fest over the weekend. A deck-plated Duramax assembled at DHD made the feat possible, as did a healthy dose of fuel from Exergy Performance, big compound turbos, and a helping hand from SoCal Diesel, Firepunk, and Nitrous Express.

Ford CEO, Jim Farley's Son Won't Own A Newer Mustang For This Reason

Tunability. More specifically, the lack of it. This just feels like a bad PR moment for Farley, but the CEO handled it flawlessly. In a recent interview, Farley discussed tuning, stating: "He didn’t buy the new one for reasons like that" in regards to his Son's decision. Farley goes on to discuss the reasons for the intentional firewalls put in their ECU's to ward off tuning. "We want people to modify their cars, but we also have to take quality and privacy really seriously." Multiple mentions we're made about heavily investing in Mustang's future as well as giving owners the ability to modify them, through Ford, of course. All in it's a great interview and hints at a great future for Mustang fans.

Note: While the article discusses the lack of tuning options, HP Tuners has recently broken into the Mustang ECU. Tuning is available now from the aftermarket.

Texas No-Prep Racers Keep Diesels Relevant At The AWD Vs. RWD Shootout

Diesel propulsion might not have won Cleetus MacFarland’s big money, no-prep AWD vs. RWD shootout last week, but one thing is for sure: the diesels impressed. Nathan Wheeler, in the driver seat of the Cummins-powered “Crazyhorse” Ford, is reported to have gone deep 5’s before suffering a loss in the semifinals. Dustin Sterling, who brought the world’s quickest eighth-mile 4x4 Duramax to the big dance (another DHD-built fire-breather), made it to the third round of action before breaking traction on the start (yet still nearly running the Mustang down in the other lane). Overall, AWD pulled out the win once again, this time in the form of Russell Guerra’s Coyote-powered F-150.

David Petrick’s 4x4 Pro Mod Is Ready For Paint

It’s low, lean, and mean—and it can be dropped down even further… David Petrick’s no-expense-spared 4x4 Pro Mod build is looking killer. Like it or not, that giant cowl is required thanks to the massive, billet-aluminum, Cummins-based Wagler engine that will power the third-gen down the track. Soon, the fiberglass wrapper will be sent to the paint booth (where it’s rumored to be receiving a shade of “Derek Rose blue”) as the truck enters the finishing stage at Firepunk Diesel. Once complete, shakedown passes, a slow introduction of power, and fine-tuning will commence—and everyone will be watching. Are we looking at the next 4x4 diesel record-holder?

First Time In The Winner’s Circle

Having just recently turned 16, Jaspyr Pushlar only has a handful of hooks on his résumé—but he’s already secured his first win in the dirt. After climbing behind the wheel of his father, Travis Pushlar’s, Limited Pro Stock diesel truck coined “Matrix” at Weakland’s Octoberfest Saturday night, Jaspyr chose the perfect line. And not only did he pilot the Cummins-powered GMC to a First Place, 366.34-foot distance, he beat out 30 other high-caliber 3.0 trucks in the process. You can usually find Jaspyr on the sidelines capturing content at the pulls for his Youtube channel, ALLmixedUP3.0, but something tells us this driver-for-hire’s services will be required again…

A 700+ HP 7.3L For A Rare Repower

Didn’t know there were Mercury pickup trucks built for the Canadian market back in the 1960s? Leave it to British Columbia-based SDK Performance to outfit one with a nasty 7.3L Power Stroke for one of its customers. The lucky candidate, a HEUI-fired, 444ci V-8, rocks a set of Unlimited Diesel Performance 455/200 hybrids, Full Force Diesel dual high-pressure oil pumps, and an Irate Diesel T4 turbo mount stacked on top of a built bottom end. A DieselSite billet high volume low-pressure oil pump, a Riffraff Diesel billet front cover, headers, billet valve covers, and tons more. The icing on the cake will be a sizeable set of compound turbos, a rarity on most high-powered 7.3L Power Strokes.
