It was a busy weekend for events, but perhaps none were bigger than Diesels In The Mountains in Richfield, Utah. Dirt drags, sled pulls, a show ‘n shine, and a dyno competition were held at the Sevier County Fairgrounds—with the action on the dyno grabbing the headlines. Josh McCormack showed up with his latest project, an L5P Duramax, top hit the Northwest Dyno Series’ rollers. McCormack’s big fuel, compound turbo’d, yet stock bottom end GMC cleared an incredible 2,097-rwhp (corrected), setting a new record for the L5P platform. Not to be outdone, UCC champion Myer Stump laid down 4,029 hp (corrected) in his 4-second, common-rail second-gen Cummins.

The YouTube channel, Zygrene recently shared a video putting the current Mustang Dark Horse up against one of the most loved modern Shelbys, the GT350R. And they kinda nailed it. It’s a pretty great comparison. The Dark Horse brings 500 horsepower, a Tremec six-speed and a much newer chassis that’s easier to live with every day. Then there’s the GT350R with its 526-horsepower Voodoo and a personality that’s just a little more unhinged. The video does a good job showing where each car shines.

The Pro Pulling League rolled into Lanesville, Indiana over the weekend for a two-night truck and tractor pull. On night one, Tim Tuttle’s “Common Cents” Dodge stole the show in the Limited Pro Stock diesel truck class with a 309-foot hook. The 14-truck field was made up of some of the heaviest Limited Pro hitters in the business, including Adam Hallien (Second Place), Henry Wadsworth (Third Place), Caden Perkins (Fourth and Fifth Place) and Adam Kincaid (Sixth Place). On the second night, it was the latter driver’s turn to get into the winner’s circle, and Adam did it behind the wheel of the O’Bryant Diesel first-gen.

Rick Fletes’ iconic ’70 Chevelle (i.e. the “Duramax Chevelle”) is receiving a new heart. After sporting an LB7 Duramax for the past 18 years, Rick is making the switch to the latest GM diesel power plant. As you read this, the 2021 model year L5P engine (sourced through DP Customs’ Daman Perry) is already in place—and it benefits from a host of RF Garage parts, a VS Racing S472 with a Twisted pedestal, a 4L80E automatic with a triple-disc converter from D&P Torque Converters. Once finished, the O.G. Chevelle won’t see as much track time as Fletes’ new Pro Mod (an LB7-powered Chevelle), but it will make for one heck of a daily driver.

It’s Hot Rod Drag Week, and guess who showed up for registration at Route 66 Raceway on Sunday? Dante Delaney and his ’07.5 GMC named “Tori.” This year, his bright red Sierra is packing a built LMM Duramax, a Motec standalone ECU, sensors everywhere (for maximum data logging), and a Stainless Diesel S480/96/1.15 A/R T6 single with a big wastegate. The truck still sports a 48RE automatic, but now with a trans-brake, and the Exergy 300-percent over injectors and Alpha 550 CP3 are still along for the ride. In just its third test pass off the trailer, Dante’s GMC put up a 6.40-second 1/8-mile at 110 mph on a soft 60-foot—and a 10.00 in the quarter. Guess what his dial-in will be this week…

Nov. 7th 2026. Northeast Dragway. Hertford, North Carolina. Be there in the same location and with the same crowd as Diesel Truck Wars, but following a brand-new format. The fresh diesels-only event (coined Grudge Wars) will feature grudge racing, a gambler’s race, and a test ‘n tune. But there’s more—much more. A big payout is on the line for the truck that makes the quickest pass of the day, and it’s up to $3,600 now thanks to MTKB Racing’s recent $1,000 contribution. Look for the payout to grow even more as the big day approaches. As for the gambler’s race, a guaranteed payout of $2,750 is on the line…
