Jail Time For Rolling Coal?

An Antioch, Illinois man is facing disorderly conduct charges and is set to go on trial after allegedly "rolling coal" on a crowd of protestors over the summer. The incident unfolded at a Families First protest in the northern Illinois town of McHenry on July 26th, with 18-year-old Nicholas Thompson said to have slowed his second-gen Cummins down to purposely blow smoke on the crowd. Pictures taken by protestors led local police to Thompson’s address, where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct. Thompson has since plead not guilty to the charges and, according to an article published by the Lake & McHenry County Scanner, is set for a bench trial on January 5th.

Ford's Latest Patent: Buddy System Travel?

Ford may have filed one of its more intriguing patents yet: a system that tries to match your driving behavior with that of nearby vehicles so you can travel in a group of like-minded individuals, in driving style at least. By collecting data on throttle input, braking, and lane changes, future Ford rides could send you toward compatible drivers instead of traffic chaos. It’s essentially road-trip matchmaking: pick your pace, and the car tries to find others that groove with it.  Remember, however, that this is concept stuff. Patents protect ideas, not announcements of imminent features.

New Super Stock Truck In The Works

The pulling gurus at O’Bryant Diesel are building their own Super Stock 4x4 Diesel Truck for the 2026 season—and this is the billet bullet that will power it. Expect this mechanically injected, aluminum block and head animal to sport the billet housing Hart’s Diesel pump shown here, and for it to breathe through a trio of turbos. The ground-up project comes on the heels of O’Bryant customer, Terry Biggs, winning the Pro Pulling League Super Stock championship in dominant fashion in 2025. Biggs’ “Deadpull” Cummins-powered Ford earned five wins on an 11-hook schedule and never finished further back than Sixth Place.

Leading By Example

After showing the world how to get a VP44-fueled Cummins into the deep 6’s in the eighth-mile, Drew Carter is giving back in the form of a new website (ShopCarterRacing.com). Here, Drew plans to make customer service and high-quality products his top priorities, and he hopes to help 24-valve owners realize the true potential of their often-underrated platform. After embarking on a journey to build an 800hp daily driver back in 2015 up until now, where the truck sits at roughly 1,000 hp at the wheels, Drew has helped push VP44 performance to new heights—and many of the parts that helped get him there will be available for sale, including products from Crazy Carls Turbos, LoganBuilt transmissions, Ducky fuel injectors, and Quadzilla.

48RE Swaps For ’20-Newer GM’s Are Becoming A Thing

It’s one way to get around the inherent weaknesses the aftermarket has discovered in GM’s 10-speed automatic transmission, the 10L1000. The age-old, proven-when-built Chrysler 48RE is getting the nod in some high-horsepower L5P Duramax builds these days, and it’s a combination that allows late-model HD Chevy and GMC owners to enjoy the newest 6.6L’s full potential. After Mark Rojee’s (Mahky’s Performance) stock-appearing, 1,400hp ’18 Ram 2500 made the rounds on social media last week, he chimed in, saying that his next sleeper project would be an L5P Duramax backed by a 48RE. With the tuning background to make it happen in flawless fashion, we can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Stretched Mega Cab

When you want the cab space of a Mega Cab but also need an 8-foot bed, you call Stretch My Truck. Richard Glaubrecht has made this call twice, and his latest ride, the sixth-gen shown here, got more than a stretch treatment at the Centerville, Utah, company. After leaving the care of Stretch My Truck, Richard’s 3500 was immediately taken to the paint booth for a one-off, two-tone scheme—as well as second-gen style badges—which effectively brought his 2026 Longhorn Laramie back to the 90s. The final stop for Richard’s Ram was Cajun Offroad, where it was fitted with a 5-inch lift, bigger wheels and tires, and Road Armor bumpers.
