The SPE Cold Side Pipe for your 6.7L Powerstrokefixes the problematic OEM plastic intercooler boot on the 2011-2016 Powerstroke as well as the silicone boot on the 2017-2022 Powerstroke, both which are known to explode or burst under high boost and increased heat.
The SPE Cold Side Pipe increases reliability, durability and performance. The kit includes a billet anodized aluminum throttle adapter with 3 reference ports as well as a 5-ply silicone hose coupler. The throttle body adapter retains thefactory air intake valve thus allowing you to retain your trucks factory emissions components and making for an effortless install.
NEXT LEVEL DESIGN
SPE has taken the 6.7L Powerstroke cold side pipe to the next level. SPE based the design off of the FACTORY 2017+ 6.7 cold side intercooler pipe. Mainly, we wanted to give the customer more options and a better quality product over the factory unit. The main change is obviously material selection. The throttle body is now billet aluminum instead of the factory composite. We also went to a 5-ply silicone based hose rather than the factory rubber. Another major change to the hose is the increase in diameter going up to 3” from the factory 2.5” (on the 17+ models). Taking feedback from customers and install shops, we found a need for injectable and reference ports. By adding these this allows the customer to install water/methanol injection nozzles, boost reference (for example a gauge), or nitrous all while not having to drill anything on the truck. The port angles are also the optimal angle for injectables.

NOTE- If you're using an aftermarket intercooler, measure your intercooler outlet. MOST are 3". If that is the case and you have a 17-22 Powerstroke you'll need to choose the 11-16 kit in order to have the correct size hose.

Over all it is a good product. better than stock. The Billet housing could have tighter tolerances. Mine wobbles pretty good. I'm afraid as the o-ring wears, I could possibly lose boost pressure. The bigger issue is where the factory sensor plug in. Mine would not stay in place. I had to use RTV to get it to hold with out blowing out.

Components installed on a 2020 F450. Have been monitoring data on a Bank iDash for some time now and thought I had a great running truck with only 22k on the clock. However, after installing both the cold and hot side CAC tubes, I now have a better throttle response and significant increases in boost pressure. These psi gains are at much lower EGTs than ever before. Even seeing 9-10 psi under engine brake on, deceleration conditions, flat Florida ground, with a nominal 18k load. In summary, must have had a leak somewhere with a faulty o-ring and must have picked up flow efficiency with the larger diameter hot side. Either way I think this was money well spent. Will by more from SPE. *Install tip – add a little of that dielectric grease not only to the o-rings but to the silicon hose ends for much easier installation.

Multiple dealers telling me my 2016 f250 truck is fine with not holding boost and getting avg 12 mpg. I swapped out intercooler pipes, now it holds boost and get an avg of 18.5mpg. Great replacement part even if your truck runs perfect. Would even recommend to ford for future models to include.

Well I installed it after the dealer called and Said the hose had split and for an outrageous amount they would install one. What a stock O.E.M. for over $500?? I installed it but then I got a code P007. So I replaced the sensor and now had the original but now P0402. Managed to finally get the first code cleared but now the second one. Exhaust Reciriculation Flow Excessive Detected. ?? Everything like EGR Valve, Vacuum, is almost working g. Not sure but if anyone knows anything about it send them my way. 2017 Alumiduty 6.7. W/66K

Nice product but the charge air temp sensor doesn’t have a way to stay retained once you twist it into place, so you have to rely on the o-ring to keep itself from rotating.

Great product. Only issue I have with it is there is no clip to keep the CAC temp sensor from turning and then coming loose. I just routed the wire and tie wrapped it in such a way to keep it from rotating loose.

Fast shipping. Great product. Only issue I have is with the CAC temperature sensor bong. It snaps in when you turn it in the original. The SPE version has no way to keep it from turning back. Other than that everything is great quality.

all went well with install, like the unit other than the way the flow sensor sits in hole and how loose it is as it could fall out. My son has same unit so I asked him about it and he said he call you guys regarding it, and you said it should be fine and not fall out, but I don't believe that. To me, its a design flaw.

Easy enough getting the old one off and upon inspection it was starting to crack inside. Installation went pretty smooth though I did have a little trouble getting the temp sensor installed but it finally went in. Hardest part of the install was getting my arm in space to push hose onto inter-cooler. Pretty sure this will be a great improvement and save a failure in the future.

Being completely honest, I have not seen a difference in performance in my tuned & deleted 2015 F250. However, this was never meant to necessarily improve performance, but instead - to prevent a failure.
My truck is a performance based work truck that hauls and tows. I'm confident I'll never have a failure like so many others have had with the stock pipes.
