SPE Motorsport 6.7L Powerstroke Disaster Prevention Exofilter SPE has developed a return side fuel filter to help eliminate contamination into the return side of the system during a CP4 failure.
How it Works Disaster prevention kits work great on the high pressure side but fall short on the return side of the fuel system, allowing contamination and debris to get back to the tank, in turn, contaminating 20+ foot of fuel lines, fuel cooler, and tank itself.
The ExoFilter allows the customer to monitor their system when maintenancing their vehicle. When the ExoFilter clogs during a CP4 pump failure it helps the truck shut off sooner to warn you of an issue, rather than returning debris to the tank and passing it through the fuel filter at the lift pump & engine. This can takes a lot of time to plug, if it even happens, and add even more labor and cost to an already costly repair bill.
The ExoFilter is designed to allow the customer to open up the filter & check for debris. It includes a 20 micron, washable metal filter that fuel passes through. The Exofilter gives you peace of mind when checked during every fuel filter change so you can catch a problem before catastrophic failure occurs.

**The SPE 6.7 CP4 Disaster Prevention ExoFilter cannot prevent the CP4 pump from failing. What it does do is prevent the failures contamination from returning to the tank. It even offers the ability to monitor fuel system health.
Had a mix up and only received a small part, so emailed customer service and in 2 days they fixed the issue! Great customer service definitely recommend!
So far in my following SPE no one has talked bout the protection you get on this product after a CP4 failure. I am so glad that I installed the disaster prevention kit and Exofilter. When my pump failed I was 2.5 hours from my shop pulling an empty equipment trailer. The Exofilter did its job very well but the additional limp driving caused the screen to buckle and release shavings into the return line. Fortunately the primary tank filter captured all of that and there was no shavings in the secondary filter when we split it to see the contents. Without the kit I'd have been doing extensive fuel system replacements. I know now that I should've stopped and gotten a tow instead of continuing to pull the trailer home. Thank y'all at SPE for making these products and especially for your excellent customer service.

Installed the Exofilter yesturday with little trouble. adding teflon tape to the side fitting was a bit challenging. I ended up splitting the standard width tape in order not to interfere with the provided O-ring. Tightening the retainer plate screw on the bottom was a bit challenging. Ended up cutting the allen wench in order to have enough room to tighten. pressurized the system. had no leaks. Had I known about your complete kit I would have purchased it, however I had already bought the S&S Diesel high pressure side disaster avoidance kit. Dang Shame FORD has once again got a major fubar and refuses to help. This kit went on my 2012. F450. Had just this past May replaced the EGR cooler so I was a little more familiar with what it was going to take. Money well spent. Great product.
