Ford’s V8 Hypercar Finally Shows Its Face

This is getting a lot more real. Ford has finally put its new Hypercar on track, with the camouflaged prototype completing an initial shakedown in France. The first outing wasn’t about lap times. Ford basically spent the day making sure every control system, hybrid component and piece of electronics did what it was supposed to do. Now comes the fun part. Higher-speed testing is underway as Ford prepares for a full-season FIA WEC debut in 2027, including a return to Le Mans in the top class. Best part? It’s powered by a naturally aspirated 5.4-liter Coyote-based V8. No tiny turbo motor here.

Cummins Killer III Does It Again

Mother Nature might’ve foiled session 1 at Wisconsin’s Hillsboro Charity Tractor Pull, but she did allow Craig Dickey and 17 other Super Stock diesel trucks to hook to the sled on Saturday. On that night, Mr. Dickey drove the unstoppable Duramax to yet another victory. Cummins Killer III moved the leader mark beyond where Erik Stacey’s “Smoknya HD” left it, digging in at 338.56 feet. Later in the class, PPL Champions Tour points leader, Jon Woskob, made a run at Cummins Killer III’s distance behind the wheel of “Rollin’ Coal,” but came up 6-inches short. Next stop: Bowling Green, Ohio for the National Tractor Pulling Championships.

A Mostly Stock Duramax Runs 5-Second 1/8-Miles

What if we told you a mostly untouched Duramax with the right fuel and air could move a 5,200-pound Silverado through the eighth-mile in 5.76 seconds? Would you believe us? You’re gonna have to, because that’s exactly what Zack Trommer’s lightened regular cab did at New England Raceway. Aside from a set of Wagler Street Fighter rods, Zack’s factory internal LB7—benefitting from Exergy 100-percent over injectors, dual CP3’s, a FASS 165-gph, an S476, and a healthy shot of nitrous—pulled off the feat in pursuit of the quickest 4x4 Allison transmission record (a 5.61). His Allballz Transmissions-built Allison 1000 shifts quick and crisp, and in conjunction with the truck’s MTKP Racing tuning might just have what is takes to break the long-standing record.

Winning On The Big Stage

Some of the strongest running Limited Pro Stock diesel trucks in the country make the annual trek to the Missouri State Fair every August. Known as one of the better hooks in the Midwest, the 3.0 smooth bore competition here is stiff, to say the least. Sunday evening, Tim Tuttle’s “Common Cents” common-rail Cummins swept into the Show Me State and earned the big win—and his Freedom Racing Engines-powered Dodge pulled off the feat while up against 21 other competitors. Tonight, Tim will go for the sweep. Then it’s on to the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza.

NHRDA Big Sky Truck Fest

Rick Fletes will be the first to tell you his win at Big Sky Truck Fest wasn’t pretty, but that’s how it goes on a fresh build. Though he fought traction issues with his freshly-revealed, Duramax Chevelle 2.0, Rick pulled off the victory in the NHRDA Pro Mod category. In the Pro Street class, UCC 2026 champ Myer Stump put on a show, putting a 4.82-second pass at 155 mph on the board. In 6.70 Index, and after qualifying in the back of the pack, Jeremy Stickney turned things around when it mattered and pulled off a come-from-behind win in his ’04 Dodge.
